Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information ANTARO collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it. We have kept it as short and as plain as the subject allows. If anything here is unclear, email support@antaro.uk.

Who is responsible for your information

ANTARO is a trading name of ANTARO Holdings Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 10755195. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

We do not operate a telephone line. Email is the only route to us, and it reaches us directly.

What we collect

We collect only what we need to sell you a product and support you afterwards.

  • Contact and delivery details — your name, email address, delivery address and billing address.
  • Order information — what you bought, when, what you paid, and the status of any return or refund.
  • Payment information — payment is processed by the payment providers offered at checkout. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and the last four digits and card type. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Account information — if you create an account, your login details and saved preferences.
  • Messages you send us — the content of emails and any information you include in them.
  • Marketing preferences — whether you have asked to hear from us, and whether you have since asked us to stop.
  • Technical and usage information — your IP address, device and browser type, and how you move through the site. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies, and is covered in our Cookie Policy.

We do not collect special category information, and we do not ask for anything we cannot justify.

Why we use it, and on what legal basis

Under UK data protection law we must have a lawful basis for each use. Ours are:

  • To fulfil your order — taking payment, arranging dispatch and delivery, handling returns and refunds, and answering questions about your order. Basis: performance of our contract with you.
  • To run and protect the business — preventing fraud, keeping the site secure, understanding in aggregate how the site is used, and improving what we sell. Basis: our legitimate interests in operating a lawful and functioning shop.
  • To send you marketing — emails about products and launches, only if you have asked for them. Every message carries an unsubscribe link and we act on it immediately. Basis: your consent.
  • To meet legal obligations — keeping accounting and tax records, and responding to lawful requests. Basis: legal obligation.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with organisations that need it to deliver the service, and only to the extent they need it:

  • Shopify, which hosts this store and processes orders on our behalf.
  • Payment providers offered at checkout, which process your payment directly.
  • Our fulfilment partners in the United Kingdom, where an order is dispatched by a third party on our behalf rather than by us directly. They receive your name, delivery address and order contents, and nothing more.
  • Delivery carriers, which receive your name, address and the information needed to deliver and track your parcel.
  • Our email service provider, if you have subscribed to marketing.
  • Professional advisers such as our accountant, where required.
  • Authorities and regulators, where we are legally required to disclose information.

Each of these acts on our instructions under a contract, or in the case of authorities under a legal duty. None of them is permitted to use your information for their own purposes.

Transfers outside the UK

Some of the providers above operate outside the United Kingdom. Where your information is transferred abroad, it is protected either by an adequacy decision covering that country, or by standard contractual clauses approved for use in the UK, or by another safeguard recognised under UK law.

How long we keep it

Order and transaction records are kept for six years after the end of the relevant financial year, because tax law requires it. Marketing consent records are kept for as long as you remain subscribed and for a period afterwards so that we can show your preference was respected. Account information is kept until you ask us to close the account. Email correspondence is kept for as long as it is useful to support you, and then deleted.

Security

Access to customer information is limited to those who need it. The store runs over an encrypted connection, and payment details are handled by the payment providers rather than by us. No system is perfectly secure, and we would rather say that plainly than promise otherwise. If a breach ever occurred that put your rights at risk, we would tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office within the time limits the law sets.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you, and receive a copy;
  • have inaccurate information corrected;
  • ask us to delete information we no longer need;
  • ask us to restrict how we use your information, or object to our use of it where we rely on legitimate interests;
  • receive information you gave us in a portable format, or ask us to send it to someone else;
  • withdraw consent to marketing at any time, without affecting anything we did before you withdrew it.

To exercise any of these, email support@antaro.uk. We will respond within one month. We may need to confirm who you are first, and we will not charge you for a reasonable request.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first — we would rather fix it. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. Complaining to us does not affect that right.

Cookies

Cookies and similar technologies are covered separately in our Cookie Policy, which also explains how to change your choices.

Children

This store is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the business changes or as the law does. The version published here is the one that applies. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will say so rather than quietly amend the date.
